Two days, 7 participating venues, two outdoor zones, robots, drones, soldering, beer, food trucks, music, crafting, and that’s only the start! With so much to do and see and hear and make, we want participants to make the most of Maker Faire San Diego! Here you’ll see how to best explore our modern world faire.
We look forward to seeing you at Maker Faire San Diego 2017!
The Park is biking and walking distance from popular neighborhoods, including South Park, North Park, Hillcrest, Little Italy, Downtown, Gaslamp District, East Village, Banker’s Hill, and University Heights. There are bike racks situated throughout the Park where you can lock up your own bike, or there are a few DecoBike Stations located in or near the Park. Please check their website for station locations.
Balboa Park can be accessed from most major freeways, however we understand that driving and parking can be difficult during major events. We highly recommend carpooling and parking at Inspiration Point, then taking the green tram into the heart of the Park. Tram hours of operation are 9:00 AM-8:00 PM. Click here for a Google Map to Balboa Park.
You can also visit Balboa Park using the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), with easy access from the Downtown and Mission Valley areas.
We also suggest ride sharing services such as Lyft or Uber.
We recommend purchasing advanced tickets online before October 6th. You’ll save a few dimes and time! Once you print your tickets at home, you can explore all venues and circuit stops at your convenience. No need to stop at a ticket booth!
Don’t want to stand in line? You can purchase tickets online all weekend.
There are two info booths and ticket stations at key locations in Balboa Park. You can purchase your tickets and find general information about the event at these locations.
If you want to purchase your tickets during the event, look for ticket and info booths at:
Please make sure to have your tickets with you at all times during the event!
You will be able to find the most up-to-date schedule of events, performances, and makers right here. It’s updating by the day so be sure to check back Saturday and Sunday morning!
See above for a print out of the schedule too! You can also browse through some of our 200+ makers on our Meet the Makers page.
We’re thrilled to be with our Maker family in Balboa Park! Each venue will have different, fun, and amazing makers. Not to mention you will have general admission to all participating museums! Outdoor areas include the Plaza de Panama and the Bea Evenson Fountain, however most of the event will be inside the venues this year and we encourage you to complete the circuit and visit them all! Over 200 makers will be in attendance. All our circuit stops will be different so be sure to explore each one.
Your ticket will give you access to the following venues:
With 200 makers, all the museum exhibitions, two stages for performances and presentations, tons of hands-on activities, and the San Diego Maker’s Guild, and all spread across Balboa Park, we highly encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water or snacks. (Please note each venue has its own food and drink policies.) Click here for a list of amenities in Balboa Park. Dress comfortably and keep an eye on the weekend forecast.
Be sure to share your experiences with us! We’ll be live on Twitter and Instagram during the event, and you can always check our Facebook Event for immediate updates. Follow and share what you’ve learned or made with us at #MakerFaireSanDiego!
We hope this helps you plan your day!
