Bill McCown is a retired aerospace mechanisms engineer with a lifelong interest in building things. Starting at age 5, with toys, Mr. McCown has been making interesting thing-a-ma-bobs, doo-dads, and widgets ever since. Some of those things have orbited or been on four planets, flown around the world, and have generally made themselves useful. Mr. McCown has also given talks to kids and their parents about making things, the relationship between school and kids who make things, and what happens to maker kids as the mature into adults.
