Maker Faire San Diego Green Statement

Innovating and making sustainably

We recognize Maker Faire San Diego (MFSD) is in a unique leadership position, as San Diego is a SMART city with a progressive climate action plan. Consistent with these programs and the sustainability goals of Balboa Park, MFSD strives to promote the triple bottom line of sustainability– social responsibility, environmental stewardship and economic prosperity– in practices among makers and the greater Balboa Park community by:

  • Fostering and developing a Green-ovate culture among Makers and MFSD guests
  • Working towards low-impact practices and sustainable operations at MFSD
  • Minimizing our impact on Balboa Park, our natural resources and historic character through pack-in-pack-out and other techniques
  • Encouraging the use of the Green Event Checklist among exhibiting Makers
