Volunteers at San Diego Mini Maker Faire 2013

Maker Faires are a celebration of making. So much good comes from makers exhibiting their projects and attendees getting inspired by what they see and do. However, these events don’t happen by themselves and without experienced volunteers to stage the show there is no Maker Faire.

Why do we mention this? For two reasons: 1) there’s an opportunity coming soon to work at a local Maker Faire and learn the ins-and-outs first hand and 2) we’d like to get you to join the Makers Guild mailing list for volunteers.

Many of us who work on the San Diego Maker Faire cut our teeth at other near by Faires. Orange County and Riverside are reasonably close and both have been great training camps to gain experience. Opportunities exist to help with set-up, ticketing, maker relations, attendee assistance, take down, and more. Those who really want to learn the Faire will go early, work throughout, and stay till the end. Nothing will prepare you better than living the full life cycle of a Faire!

I would like to help any engineering and science work shops or organize the events for two days Maker Faire on 3rd and 4th, 2015.
